Become a Digital Mentor and Help Someone Get Connected

Do you enjoy using technology and want to make a difference in your community? Wide Bay Kids Community Inc is looking for volunteers to become Digital Mentors and help older Australians build the confidence to use everyday technology.
Technology is now part of almost every aspect of daily life. From booking appointments and accessing government services to keeping in touch with family and friends, being able to use a smartphone, tablet or computer has never been more important. Yet many older people still face barriers to getting online and simply need someone patient to show them how.
Our free Digital Mentor Program will equip local volunteers with the skills, resources and confidence to provide one-on-one digital support within the community. You don't need to be an IT expert – if you're comfortable using everyday technology and enjoy helping others, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll learn
The training will prepare you to support people with a range of everyday digital tasks, including:
- Using smartphones, tablets and computers
- Sending emails and making video calls
- Accessing online health and government services
- Staying safe from online scams
- Building confidence to use technology independently
Along the way, you'll also develop valuable communication, mentoring and leadership skills that can support future volunteering, employment and community involvement.
Who can become a Digital Mentor?
We're looking for volunteers aged 16 years and over from all walks of life. Whether you're a student, retiree, working professional or existing volunteer, you can help someone become more confident online.
By becoming a Digital Mentor, you'll be joining a growing network of local volunteers helping older Australians stay connected, access essential services and remain independent in an increasingly digital world.
