Tips to help you leave home on time every morning
Leaving home on time sounds very simple yet it can get complicated, the more individuals there are to get ready, particularly in the morning. It is also nice to have the first 2 hours of your day start calmly so you feel in control and on top of events for the rest of the day. I recommend you start the night before, by making sure you prepare for the following day by having the washing up done and the bedroom floor clear, so you feel like you have a clean slate to start your day. Sleep is another important factor, so if you wake up at a fixed time, then your bedtime needs to adjust so that you are well rested. Experts say we sleep in 90 minute blocks, therefore make your sleep time a multiple of 90 i.e. 6 hours or 71/2 hours.
If you have no morning routine or schedule , I suggest you start with the basics and then once you have that right, build on it until you are comfortable doing everything you require. Take note of what you currently do in a morning and the time it takes to complete tasks. This might show that you are trying to do too much in the first 2 hours of the day, so look at ways to simplify and delegate. Simplify your schedule by creating a habit out of the bare necessities eg. wake up, stretch, bathroom, eat, shower, clean teeth, dress, pack stuff for your day and leave home. You will find that on days where things are not going to plan, these items will just happen with little or no thinking so you will be ready for the day and have time to spend on the surprises life sometimes sends you. Once you have your basic habit in place (about a month) start adding in other tasks. If you need to use the extra time to assist others in the household get on top of their morning schedule.
This will allow you to start delegating tasks from your schedule to other individuals schedule as they get the basics of their schedule together, and then start having time to do more items for themselves and therefore freeing you of the little tasks that you currently do for them.
