Bargara Beaches

Bargara Beaches
Bargara Beaches – there are several beaches scattered across the 5km span known as the Bargara Esplanade. With each beach having its own set of unique of characteristics, strengths and weaknesses we’ve prepared this quick guide to help you choose the best beach for your family to head to.
Neilsons Beach
Patrolled beach, great for beach games, sand play, surfing, can be rough
Neilsons Beach is located on the northern tip of the Bargara Esplanade along Fred Courtice Drive and just a few minutes from the Bargara town centre. The beach hosts the Bundaberg Surf Life Saving Club and is patrolled by them from September through to April.
The beach is great at low tide for cricket, soccer or sand play. If windy this area can be a little too rough for littlies and we suggest you head to the Basin or Moneys Creek for a sheltered swim.
Turtle Park Beach
No swimming, great for exploring rock pools, collecting shells and sand play.
Turtle Park Beach is located directly in front of the Turtle Park playground and is great for exploring at low tide but not for swimming. Kids love to climb over and search within the volcanic rock pools to see what they can find. A small sandy area is located on the foreshore that is littered with shells to collect. This is a great place to explore in the warmer and cooler months.
Boat Ramp Beach
Can be rough, great for sand play and games.
Boat ramp beach is located at the town centre on the foreshore to the right of the Turtle Park. This area is fabulous for sand play at low tide but is not patrolled and can be quite a rough place to swim, not suitable for littlies. Head to one of the patrolled beaches at Nielsons or Kelly’s or for sheltered areas head to the Basin or Money’s Creek.
The Basin
Sheltered swimming area, great for littlies, sand play, and games.
The Basin is a sheltered beach, and perfect for small children. Located just south and around the corner from the Turtle Park this beach is very popular with families. Fish can sometimes be seen here with children trying to catch them. The water temperature is usually warmer than other beaches along the esplanade. The playground that adjoins this beach is currently being revamped.
Kelly’s Beach
Patrolled beach, great for beach games, sand play, surfing, can be rough.
Kelly’s Beach extends from the Basin for almost 1km to the mouth of Money’s Creek. This pristine section of beach hosts soft white sand and very little volcanic rock. It is a very popular walking area. The beach is patrolled by life savers at the southern end and frequented by local surfers. It can also be very rough when windy. Head to the basin or into Money’s creek if you like a sheltered swim. At low tide this beach is great for games, sand play, and surfing.
Money’s Creek
Sheltered swimming area, great for littlies.
Money’s creek can be found almost 1.5km south along the esplanade from the turtle park. This creek is tidal and provides a great sheltered place to swim when the ocean is too rough.
Archies Beach
Good beach for a surf when windy.
Archies Beach is located on the southern tip of the Bargara esplanade. This beach is not patrolled but is loved by local surfers and can be quite rough.
