Bundaberg fishing spots for kids
Bundaberg fishing spots for kids
Here are our favourite Bundaberg fishing spots for kids as well as a few others added in for good measure.
No Boat
If you don’t have access to a boat head to any of our local beaches and throw in a line from the shore. We especially love Elliott Heads and Bargara but have heard good reports from Mon Repos and Burnett Heads as well.
We also love Riverview just upstream from Elliott Heads. It has a great floating jetty for fishing into deep water.
If in town the riverside boardwalk has a few great spots perfect for fishing with kids. We love the area in front of Midtown Marina at high tide. It has great seating, and a perfect vantage point for throwing in a line. Not a good place for young children though as there are no guard rails.
You could also try your luck under the Burnett Traffic Bridge or at Smiths or Bucca Crossing,
By Boat
We found a nice little beach on the North side of the Burnett River. It was perfect to teach our little Wide Bay Kid how to fish….and he even caught one! We also love Riverview which is just up from Elliott Heads on the Elliott River.
Some other great local spots include the Burrum River as well as the Gregory, Isis and Cherwell Rivers. Great fishing and crabbing at each of these……..or so we are told. Access from Woodgate and Walkers Point are great options to.
Lake Monduran, also known as Fred Haigh Dam, has a reputation for big barra. Our Wide Bay Kids love this place. It is best to explore if you have a boat. For more fishing spots in the North Burnett Region CLICK HERE.
The Baffle Creek is where we learnt to fish with our Dad and Grand Dad. Access can be gained through Boaga and Winfield just to name a few. There are many places along the Baffle to throw a line in. This creek offers some amazing mangroves and wildlife. The kids will love it. We were often put out on a sand bar for a play when we got sick of fishing.
