Macadamias Australia Visitor Experience
Visit the original Steinhardt Family Farms orchard on Goodwood Road and take a self-guided interactive tour through the trees, the multi-generational family’s story and the history of macadamia farming in Bundaberg.
See where it all began through interactive displays that capture the family’s firsthand insight into Bundaberg’s agricultural history. Learn about how Macadamias Australia incorporate innovation and research to drive the sustainable, carbon-friendly farming practices and ensure the production of the highest quality nuts.
During harvest season, from February to August, take a self-paced walk through the established macadamia orchard in front of the Visitor Experience Centre, collect your own macadamias and crack them on one of the cracking stations.

Swimming Pools and Water Parks
We love our local swimming pools! Norville Park and Gin Gin Pools both have small water park play areas as well larger pools for swimming. Norville Pool will often have inflatables on the water during school holidays and weekends (additional fee) and Childers Pool (Isis War Memorial Pool) is undercover!
Hinkler Hall of Aviation
The Hinkler Hall of Aviation, is located in the beautiful Botanic Gardens. This museum is fabulous for kids to explore with plenty of interactive hands-on exhibits that they will love. The flight simulators and gliders are very popular. Our Wide Bay Kids rate this as their favourite local museum.
Snakes Downunder Reptile Park & Zoo
A fun and affordable day out to be enjoyed by the whole family. Admission cost includes the opportunity to handle a python and baby salt water crocodile, view snakes shows, a crocodile feeding display, a walk with the wallabies and enjoy guided tours and various static displays. Bundaberg Botanic Gardens
The Bundaberg Botanic Gardens are a fabulous place to explore with kids. Set on 27 hectares of land there is plenty of room to walk, run, scoot, ride bikes and enjoy being in the great outdoors. The gardens include 5 main areas; the playground, the gardens, boardwalk and lake, the steam train rides, the cafe and museums. There definitely is something for everyone
Mon Repos Turtle Centre
The Mon Repos Turtle Centre is a hub for visitors and marine turtle conservation. It hosts the largest concentration of nesting marine turtles on the eastern Australian mainland. At Mon Repos Regional Park you can visit and enjoy the walking and cycling tracks and explore the coastal environment. Between November to March, visitors can see nesting and hatching turtles on the beach at night.
Russo Nature Park
Russo Nature Park is a fabulous park to explore with kids. Stockyard Creek greets you at the entrance of the Park and follows you on your adventure. Take your shoes and socks off and paddle in the water. See tadpoles, moss, and water plants, become immersed in the sound of the running water….so tranquil, calming and soothing. There are 3 great short walking tracks in this park perfect for kids.
Elliott Heads Beach
Elliott Heads is an awesome beach and a fabulous place for kids to explore. A quiet seaside township situated just 20 minutes from the Bundaberg CBD this place is one of our regions picture perfect attractions. Elliott Heads has it all, a patrolled surf beach, the quiet Elliott River mouth, rock pools , expanses of white sand and fabulous bike and scooter paths. This place is perfect for kids of all ages with something for everyone no mater what the season.
Alexandra Park Zoo & Playground
Alexandra Park Zoo and Playground is one of our favourite local parks to visit. A beautifully shaded park with lots of space, zoo animals and a variety of playground equipment. There is something here for kids of all ages. Great for prams, bikes, scooters and skates and perfect picnic destination with views of the river.
