Bundaberg Bike Rides with Kids
our favourites
Take a look at this list we’ve put together of our favourite Bundaberg bike rides with kids. We’ve included our most loved circuit, park, beach side, and bush rides we like to take. Most of these rides could also be done as a pram walk.
Is your favourite ride on our list? If not let us know in the comments below.

Park Rides
Most of the great parks in our area have fantastic paths for bike riding. For younger kids we love Lake Ellen, Boreham, Alexandra and Queens Parks. Each have nice wide tracks set back from the road. We especially love Boreham Park which also includes a little mini bmx track for younger kids.
Beachside Rides
Almost all of our local beaches have great paths along their esplanades, perfect for bikes, scooters, skates and prams. Our favourites are the stretch from Bargara Turtle Park to Nielsons Park, and the stretches along the Burnett Heads, Elliott Heads and Woodgate esplanades. All are suitable for kids of all ages.
We also love the Bargara Turtle trail which extends from Nielsons Park to Burnett Heads mostly with ocean views. This ride is almost 13km return so not one for younger kids.
BMX and Pump Tracks
Bundaberg Pump Track includes a sealed track with off-road terrain suitable for bikes, skateboards and scooters. Kids of all ages will love this place. Great spot for younger kids when the big kids are at school.
There is a great BMX track at Boreham Park and a smaller one at the Jaycee Park on Barolin Street. Our Wide Bay Kids love both of these locations.
Kids of all ages will love the old skating rink at Nielsons Park Bargara. This large open concrete area is mainly used by younger kids on their bikes or scooters.
Bush Rides
Our favourite bush bike rides are at Riverview and Meadowvale Nature Parks. Both parks have nice wide tracks, great for balance bikes and prams with pump up tyres but not suitable if you have kids with training wheels.
We also love the tracks through Baldwin Swamp and some parts of Russo Nature Park. For the more serious rider and older kids there is Cordalba State Forest just outside of Childers which has mountain bike tracks.
Circuit Rides
Baldwin Swamp to Alexandra Park
We love riding from Baldwin Swamp and ending up at Alexandra Park via the River. We start at the Baldwin Swamp Shelter Shed and weave our way through the park to Lake Ellen crossing the road at the Bywash. We then follow the path down to the cricket grounds and cross the road at the lights at Kendalls Flats.
From here we head along Quay Street behind the old netball courts and cross a small footbridge which brings us out next to the Rowers Club. We then weave our way along the River pushing our bikes on the boardwalk paths before hopping back on again just below Midtown Marina. From here we head straight to Alexandra Park passing under the traffic bridge on our way. When our Wide Bay Kids were younger we used to walk this circuit with our prams.
North Bundy to Lake Ellen
Another circuit we love leaves North Bundy and concludes at Lake Ellen. We park the car on the north side and head across the old bridge via the footbridge. From here we continue along the service road which runs parallel to Quay street until the Rowers Club. Once here we cross the footbridge and head to the lights at Kendalls flats, we follow the path at the cricket field which leads to the entrance of Lake Ellen at the Bywash.
Skate Park to Baldwin Swamp
A path runs from the skate park in Walla Street winding across the park area behind the Basketball Stadium all the way to Baldwin Swamp. This path crosses Princess Street at the bywash.
Criterium Cycling Circuit
Next to the Basketball stadium in Flindt Street are two large round tracks. A criterium cycling circuit made for serious cyclists and another path which runs parallel to the criterium circuit. We often go here and the kids have races around the tracks. A sign states that the criterium circuit is closed when cyclists are racing normally Thursday and Saturdays 4pm-6pm but we have never come across them.
Alexandra Park Hospital End
This is a perfect spot for kids who love to ride bikes “on the road”! This road circuit can be found at Alexandra Park down the Hospital end and opposite KFC. This used to be the old Finemore Caravan Park but has been redeveloped into parklands. There is no vehicle access to this park so kids can go for it. Great spot for those learning to ride.
Norville Pool Park Circuit
A circuit exists which runs around the roadway of Norville Pool. Starting in Enterprise Street, extending around the back of the pool to a park before emerging again on the other side. This circuit is not recommended for kids under 5 as there is local traffic and a few hills that may prove challenging for them.
Queens Park
Queens Park is a great place to ride bikes. Follow the road or go off-road via the parkland.
